5 Tips for when you feel like giving up on your goals
For me, motivation is as important as water. Why? Because I love to dream, plan, build, and reach my goals. It takes a ton of mental power to reach goals. The body needs food and water to function. Motivation is the food and water so to speak of reaching goals. Today, I’ve put together tips for when you feel like giving up on your goals.
Don’t compare yourself to others
I struggle with this one, not going to lie. I think human nature plays a part in comparing ourselves to others. We’re each in a different place in life. If you’re comparing yourself to others in a negative way, please stop. Instead, think about where you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to be.
Look for inspiration that fit
Looking for inspiration is a great tool as you plan your dreams and goals. I like to gather ideas, review them, then put it all together in a way which compliments my style. The trick is to gather inspiration from an area suited to you. Otherwise, you may end up discouraged. For example, gather inspiration from a time frame, age range, or similar area you can envision yourself in.
Overthinking I feel is another one of those basic human nature traits. Overthinking often leads to confusion and backtracking. I try to follow my gut instinct. Usually, my gut is right. I try to let the general first impression of my dream or goal lead me. I’ve learned through trial and error that overthinking leads to making excessive changes and being unhappy with my end result.
Learn to fail
Failing is part of life. Failing doesn’t mean you are a failure, should give up, or your dream/goal can’t come to life. It can! If you have a dream or goal, work to define the focus and goal. If the goal or dream is clearly not working, change direction and work to define the focus. The key is to push forward, grow, learn, and be positive. Failure is just a bump in the road to where you want to be. I hope these tips help you find some motivation and inspiration if you feel like quitting or giving up on your goals.
