Lighten Up

You may be noticing a trend with the Motivational Monday posts. The theme is Relax and then Relax some more. In my last Motivation Monday post, I talked about Rest and Relaxation. This week we’re talking about learning to lighten up.

Over the last few months, I’ve been working to slow down and enjoy my life more. I’m also learning to lighten up! What is the point of taking things so seriously? Of course. there are areas of our lives we have to take seriously but I wonder how many of us are stressing over things that really aren’t that important.

This may sound cheesy but I mean this little bit of advice. Life is better with laughter. Laugh until you cry as much as you can. Laughter is great medicine. I also like to ask myself if the issue I’m stressing over will matter a day, a week, a month, or a year from now. The answer is often simple – no.

Pick your battles, decide what you will let stress you, affect you, or upset you today. Unless the issue is huge let it go and lighten up! Trust me, I know I’m making this sound easy. It isn’t easy at first to let go of things that stress us. It also isn’t always easy to change.

We’re a work in progress each and every day. I’m a firm believer in being positive and self-improvement. My challenge this week for anyone reading is to lighten up through learning to laugh more, taking the time to relax, and not sweating the small stuff. Each day is a new day to enjoy the world around us.
